Anyone else have trouble with TSA when traveling? Ever since my mastectomy, I've been pulled aside several times to have my carry-on double-checked because of my prosthesis and then yesterday I got a pat down on my affected side b/c it lit up on the x-ray machine. Thankfully all of the TSA employees have been considerate and kind so far, but I'm concerned that won't always be the case... Is this just something I need to get used to when traveling from now on?

I set off the alarms at the Hoover Dam - but not at the airport, funnily enough. There is a small piece of metal in my prosthesis. It made me chuckle for the rest of the day, actually!

although I do not have expanders but I do have a port. I had a terrible experience at the Fort Lauderdale Airport back in November. I carry a card that has all the information about my port. I showed that to them. I even showed them where my port was. When it showed up I was patted down so hard that I was black and blue. My hands were checked for explosives, and luggage was gone through and checked for explosives I got the agents name, I wrote letters and complained and did hear back from the airport and the airline. The airport said the TSA agent didn't really understand what a port was .Really? Is that the best excuse they could come up with? Thankfully this is the only time I have ever had any issues. I will never fly into Fort Lauderdale again.

I had a card for the expanders because they had a metal that would trigger the alarm. I've been flying and have not had any special treatment good or bad

Good question! I have not done any airplane travel yet. I hope others chime in and answer . I wonder is there is a medical variance or some sort of "card " you can get ? Like I said, I am curious
