No lymph nodes involved but if I try to reach behind me, it can really hurt in the front of my armpit to my incision site which is on the top of my breast(think 2 o'clock). Because it has only been 8 weeks since I finished radiation and 4 months since surgery, I am wondering if it takes longer than I was expecting to not have pain if I move the wrong way?
I had a BMX in June and all summer my chest and underarms were sore. In October I got a referral to a Lymphedemia certified PT. she examined me for Lymphedemia and said she thought I didn'nt have it right now. She thought the pain was from weak chest muscles. She gave me exercises and told me to massage my Breasts to stretch the skin. I have been doing the exercises for about 6 weeks and they make a huge difference. I still get nerve pain now and then from where they cut the nerves.
Quite common, my friend, don't worry. If I'm visualizing the areas of pain correctly, they seem sort of in parallel positions to each other , one closer to the sternum, one close to the armpit, both in the upper hemisphere...it's my understanding frost that the nerves run somewhat horizontally across from the pit towards the midline, and nerve pain ( say, from the trauma of a lumpectomy) can twinge anywhere along the nerve. In fact, to scratch my numb foob, I scratch under my arm...but I digress, TMI...I suppose you'll see your RO for another dolliwuo shortly, so be sure to question her about it so you can put your concerns to rest.

I am 2 years out. Still stiffness and a"gotcha pain as my doctor says. If you get the chance google arm exercises after breast cancer surgery. I do little stretches at night when I lay down for bed.
Two years since end of chemo and rads and I still get shooting pains (phantom pains) that get my attention. not too often. I had 15 lymph nodes removed on left side with a modified radical mastectomy and 5 lymph nodes removed on right side with a regular mastectomy. Surgeon left side boob fat and slight cleavage and big hole in the center.. ugly.. no reconstruction yet.. skin too thin and high risk of recurrence so surgeon told me to wait 3 years for reconstruction.. ugh Inflammatory breast cancer. Invasive ductal and Invasive lobular.. all 3 on my chest. mastectomies were 9 mos apart. what a pain.. not a recurrence on right side..a brand new kind found on my yearly mammogram after the first mastectomy.. I'm tired of this crapola. lol
