Looking for tips, advice, and recommendations. Thanks in advance.
Yes I did. I had DTI in May 2014 and then radiation June 2015. My implant became encapsulated from the radiation and I just had to have them redone in July. My advice it to work with a PT and do lots of self-massage, especially once you begin radiation. No one told me that and post radiation the scar tissue just built up and the one side became as hard as a softball and was higher than the other. Since I had them redone I began working with a PT 2 weeks after surgery to ensure scar tissue doesn't build up. The skin on the radiated side has a little less give, but is night and day compared to where it was immediately after radiation. Overall I'm thrilled with them and so glad I had them redone.
I had expanders at the time of my radiation and the skin pulled the expander to the side and knotted it. I had my final implants placed in July (9 months after radiation) and so far it is doing good.
I had reconstruction right away after double mastectomy. Then had radiation on my left breast . The radiation caused my breast tissue to tighten around my implant and didn't let it fall . So the plastic surgeon had to go back in and cut the tissue so the implant would come down .
@A MyBCTeam Member thank you, are you happy with the result?
