I have had a problem with my thumb and first finger since my 12 hour long mastectomy with Diep flap reconstruction. It took months for me to be able to sleep all night because the pain in my hand was so bad. It finally eased up a little but then I started chemo and that seemed to reverse the progress I had made. They now have me on neurontin 300mg 4x/day and ALA, and in addition to hydrocodone (which I take for numerous causes), they have now added a sublingual Fentanyl. Very bad neuropathy and bone pain during and after chemo but the neurontin and alpha lipolitic acid (ALA) sold at local pharmacy seemed to help quite a bit. Still only have partial feeling in half my hand but the pain intensity/severity has deminished significantly. I am waiting for another nerve test appointment. The first one they said shoes possible carpal tunnel as well, which was not an issue for me before either.

@A MyBCTeam Member - I haven't personally experienced this (at least not yet) but if you go to Q+A and put trigger fingers or thumb in the search there is some discussion there in the way of others questioning it. Good luck to you hun <3

I had developed something calld myolitis and Arthragilia ( unsure of spelling) . Basically chemo/Herceptin induced arthritic like pain and muscle pain. I did see a arthritis specialist , ran some test and ultimately my whole body showed inflammation but no arthritis . I also developed 7 trigger fingers, excruciating pain. Thankfully all resolved minus one trigger finger which I got a steroid injection for and that was over a year ago, no further issues

I just read that cancer patients all should have a rheumatologist due to chemo causing rheumatoid arthritis (RA). RA patients are told to have an oncologist as their treatment causes cancer, said the article. I never would have thought. If I can find the article I will send a link.
