I have been done with all treatment since July 2015. I was thinking of starting the reconstruction process. I would like to know what was the recovery time? Is it something where I can go back to work after a week or would I need more time off. I just started getting my life back with work and would like to know a few time frames so I can try to save if I have to be off work.
I had diep. Recovery time for me has been slow. I am ten weeks out and feeling ok , but tire easily. Each person and each surgery is different.
@A MyBCTeam Member I had same procedure. I had my expanders placed at bilateral mastectomy, I was out for about 6 weeks with mastectomy and then when I had the expanders replaced with the implants, I was out just over a week. I had the surgery on a Thursday...missed that week and the following week. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!
@A MyBCTeam Member hi I agree it does depend on which method of reconstruction you have, I had LD flap reconstruction at the same time as mastectomy I wasn't fit for anything for at least 3/4 weeks that was because of drains & back recovering as well as breast area, I'm not sure about recovery if you had silicone implants. Try to speak in depth to your nurse & make an informed decision but don't worry about being off work again hun this decision is going to affect the rest of your life so it needs to be right xxxx
Hi Dina, you will not be back at work in a week, no matter which type of reconstruction you have. But in order for us to give you a timeline, we need to know which reconstruction method you will use. Thanks💗💗💗
Hi. I had immediate reconstruction and was off of work for 3 weeks. It does depend on how much lifting you will be doing at your job. I am an ultrasound tech and came back to work with lifting restrictions from my plastic surgeon.
