I have been on letrozole for 1 year and dr has not mentioned zometa. Side effects so far from letrozole is leg pain.

I started to take tamoxifen but had such unbelievably severe deep bone pain that I was almost bed ridden. I stopped taking it when even my collar bones ached (about 2 months into it). Part of my decision was that I had had stage zero DCIS, was treated with surgery and radiation, had had a total hysterectomy when I was young (and so had no ovaries producing estrogen) and I felt that the quality of my day to day life outweighed the bit of extra benefit tamoxifen would provide. I am not taking letrozole or any other post menopausal, post cancer medication. Sorry I cannot be of more help on that front.

I started letrozole February 2023 and zometa in August 2023. I did OK with my first zometa infusion with no side effects. I was told it helps to give the zometa infusion slow to eliminate side effects. My next scheduled zometa infusion is Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Happy Valentines Day. Wishing you the best.

Ok. My regime is as yours. I've been on letrozole for almost two years and zometa at six month intervals for a period of three years or six infusions total. That is what they recommended at U of Chicago where I go. I did not start the zometa at same time.... my theory was let me get started on letrozole and see side effects before I get zometa so I waited three months. I have had three zometa. Fourth due April 1. There is no side effects at all. Letrozole gave me no side effects for quite awhile. I have some aches and pains now but I get by! Don't be concerned!

Zometa is an infusion for your bones if I remember correctly. I am getting Xgeva injections every 28 days for my bones - I prefer that to another infusion but if you are only getting Zometa twice a year it might not be as strong. You can mention it to your doctor. Oh and I've had no side effects at all from the Xgeva. Good luck to you!
