I just had my 5th radiation treatment for pain in my hip. I will do 10 total and then 5 on my lower back. The radiation seems to be helping the hip pain but I still have the pain in my back when trying to walk around since we haven't started that yet (though radiologist seems to think back pain might be muscular but I don't know) - question is, does anyone else feel fatigued from getting radiation treatments? My husband doesn't understand how radiation could be causing fatigue but I find… read more
@RosrannDT Fatigue is great with me. I had 10 treatments on my shoulder scheduled for 10 to 15 more on my pelvis and hip. I have had days were I changed from one pair of pjs to another. The pain in my shoulder pain seems different but feeling better. It seems my range of motion is returning little by little. I am told this is good news that the radiation s working. My hip is waiting and feeling just as bad as ever.
@RosannDT I dint know you could do to yourself. I may try that then.
@A MyBCTeam Member yes I had tried reiki. My young survivors group had a day out at a spa were we got to sample. They offer it still but it's 25.00 a week to learn how. Not to get.
Thanks for all the encouragement. Insurance is no problem I don't have enough sick time. I'm ok with one boob I'm more concerned with the weight gain .
@A MyBCTeam Member - wow you have seen your share of misery but you can't let it get to you. A positive attitude is important and I believe what my oncologist said to me - that new advances are made every day!! Did you check with your insurance company on reconstruction? I believe here in New Jersey insurance companies are required to cover reconstruction when a woman has a mastectomy - check with your doctors office and they should know. With my insurance company, I hit a ceiling of $6300 out of pocket for the year and they cover every penny over that. Also talk to the social worker in your oncologists office because there are so many charities out there that help cancer patients. We got two checks that we didn't even apply for - my social worker put the application in for us and it really helped. Are you still in treatment or did you finish? I'm stage IV so I'm in this forever but I have learned to take it a day at a time - don't give up hope hun - you still have a life to live!!! <3
