My PS wants to do nipple reconstruction a few months after my exchange (which will be next month), followed by 3-D tattoos. He does the procedure where he goes back in the original incision and kind of pulls the skin up together to form a nipple. I've looked at his before and after pictures, and they do look great. But one person I spoke with said that a few years later her nipples have almost completely flattened out.

I had nipple reconstruction one month ago, it looks great but my surgeon did say eventually it will flatten out I use a "foam donut" inside my bra to help protect it

I heard the same thing. I just told my ps yesterday that I just want the tattoo. I know someone who did the nipple reconstruction and it flattened twice. I can't be bothered. I think the tattoo is enough for me.
Thanks, ladies, for the feedback. When I started the reconstruction process I was planning to do nipples and tattoos. But if long-term outcomes aren't great (and I haven't heard from anyone who's said, "Five years out my nipples look great!") it doesn't make a lot of sense to go through another surgery.
Remember that these consolation nipples are purely cosmetic and not sensual. Like @A MyBCTeam Member, I also opted to not have reconstruction since it's purely cosmetic and I figured why bother.
