Hi I had nodes removed on left side and had chemo thru IV on right arm which ruined my veins. They told me if my veins get any worse they would have to draw from my leg.

I don't know if insurance would authorize it if you don't have to have IV chemo, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. All of the nurses, infusion center personnel, doctors, have said that a port just makes everything easier. I've had to have IV antibiotics and IV potassium just last month. The port was a wonderful alternative to an IV in the arm. Much easier access, and a lot more comfortable and easier to move around when I needed to.

Have the docs or you considered a port? I have one about an inch below my collar bone on my right side. It has been so easy for chemo and blood draws.

Hi Cheryl. I did not have to do chemo so I don't have a port. That would make it easier. it just gets tiring have to explain that I can't have blood drawn from either arm, since I had the sentinel nodes removed. Thank you!
