DCIS oncotype testing

I guess the onco type test will tell you if it could recur that was the point of the article.
Well DCIS is pre-cancerous without radiation or chemotherapy pre-cancerous tissue still has the potential to become breast cancer.
@A MyBCTeam Member, if you read the last line of the article referenced here it states for DCIS, which is stage 0 cancer, the score would help determine whether radiation is needed. Radiation is not always given for DCIS patients. When I had DCIS, I asked if they would do the oncotype test on me and they did not do it for stage 0 cancer 7 years ago. Looks like they do it now! If I'd had a high oncotype score I would not have done radiation but would've opted for a bmx. It really would've helped me make a decision as I was on the fence and the doctors were telling me I could do whatever I wanted. It was highly frustrating and now I'm paying the price with radiation induced lung issues. So yeah, this is great news in my book!
oncotype testing will only determine if you need chemotherapy. If you still have breast tissue you will need radiation.
Thanks for sharing. Wondering if I would've had to do radiation after all. This would've really helped me decide bmx vs. lump w/rads.
