Hi, I am a fitter. The post surgery camisoles are quite usefull. You have some pouches for the drains and you can wear it day and night without worriying about your drain. You can look on Amoena's website and look for the 2860 or the 2105. The one with the zipper is the most popular but the other one is very comfy too. For the 2105, without the zipper, you put in on by the feet, like a bathing suit (you won't be able to lift your arms that much the first few days). The best is to try the two and focus on comfort to make the best decision. Step 2 is a leisure bra. You can also attach the pockets for the drains to this bra. Again, on Amoena's website, look for the 2160 or the 2128. Or the 110 from American breast care.Hope this helps.

I found the most useful item immediately after my BMX was a tank top with pockets sewn in to hold the drains! I was given this "cami" and it was so appreciated! Button down PJs are easier to get in and out of as well. Or things you can step into...you can't easily raise your arms for a bit. You remind me of myself....I am such a planner too. I could not tolerate anything except the lightest, sheerest cotton shirts across my chest so I sent back my Amoena camisole. It was way too snug even as an X-large.
My neighbor makes handy drain bags on a belt for the drains for the surgery center and I pinned them to a lanyard around my chest for the shower.Since my surgeon removed the dressing before discharging me, I didn't have to do anything for my incision until he saw me for the follow-up.
I was sent home with just the drain belt and nothing else. I still don't own foobs and haven't worn a bra since the day before my BMX - very liberating.
I used Palmers lotion on my incision after my post-op follow-up appointment a week after surgery.
I kept a small cooler with yoghurt and cheese on a tray along with ice water, crackers, and a timer to have food available for my middle of the night pain meds.
I slept in bed with at least 6 pillows to prob me up. A backrest pillow with side arms worked great during the day but I found it too upright for sleeping.

I got a perscription for a bra, they of course put one one me after Joy surgery, ugly and huge. I didn't buy any more because after a couple of weeks I could wear sports bras that hooked up the front. I got done at WalMart cheap

Your surgeon should give you a prescription and the location of the place to get the bra with the pockets for your drains. You will need one, I ended up needing two because I had 8 drains and while one was being washed I needed another one to put on
