I too had steristrips and was able to shower post op day 3 and was told that if they were not off after a week to remove them. I didn't use the compression vest much unless I was going somewhere and that was mostly because it had the pockets for the drains. I was just careful how I moved, but moved as much as I could.

I had steristrips on all of my incisions. Allowed to shower post op day 5 (it was okay to get them wet) and was told to take the strips off as they loosened on their own. Two weeks in they were all still pretty much well adherent so I was given permission to remove them (easier in the shower!). I also had a compression corset, given to me by my surgical team, which I wore for near 4 weeks after which I switched to wireless bras and camisoles that I could step into and pull up.

I also have a compression corset . With out it I feel like a turtle out of shell .lol its only bee a little over to weeks since I had a BMX .

The next day. The normal stay in the hospital is 4 days but I wanted to go home the next day which my surgeon allow after of have all of my IV antibiotics. I also showered the next day as well. I wanted to see how I looked after my mastectomy and immediate reconstruction.

My surgeon removed the dressing before I was discharged (next morning). I didn't even have steri strips. I could shower as of day 3. I did not have any compression garments but finally bought a Cass top at Sierra Trading post and now wear it daily.
