I had a lumpectomy with radiation in Jan 2012. Then my cancer came back in both breasts in Dec. 2014. I had a double mastectomy with the diep flap on April 10 2014. I went to sloan in NYC. I'm happy with the results.

Thanx for the input. Are you in NOLA now for surgery? I found another place in San Antonio that specializes in the DIEP flap, but they do not take Medicare from out of state people at this time.

The place in no that you are talking about is a very good place!
the drs there were the first to do and perfect this type of surgery.
A lot of ps go down there to train!
one of the drs moved to charleston, sc after katrina.
i cannot rememberhis name but have heard he is the very best around.
wish i had known about him before i was butchered by another one here!
Be very careful choosing a ps to do this!
Mine was supposed to be very good and he almost let me die!
all the skin dies and i had 3 major surgeries back to back and was on a wound vac for 5 months.
I have since changes surgeons and have had 5 surgeries with another tomorrow to try to fix what that butcher did to me!
yes...i have an attorney.
I later found out i was not the only one he did this to. :-(
Please be very careful and have your protein levels checked before any surgery!

Has anyone had breast implants after chemo, bilateral mastectomy and radiation?

You can always have it later if you decide to.
did your dr chech your pre albumin levels?
Sometimes if they are low you will have a hard time healing.
also there is a drink mix, juven that greatly helped me heal.
i had to order from publix and it helped.
I got unflavored and mixed it with crandberry juice.
It was recommened to me by the oncology nurse.
I have used it before every surgery.
It is a tissue builder so it speeds up healing.
