I did in New Orleans at the Center for Reconstructive Breast Surgery. The are the best!!!! I had a bilateral mastectomy with the immediate DIEP reconstruction. It was a nipple and skin sparing surgery. They look very normal and the nipples still work!!!!! Sorry I still find that just amazing! If you have any specific question just let me know.

BelindaS and kiimmeam what other questions do you have? When they did the mastectomy they did it as a reduction. I had to take off the nipples. So I do need to have another surgery to make them. Here is one of the biggest reason I am so happy about the flap. I had to have a hip replacement 3 years ago. I loved my new hip. Well they just found out while I was on chemo or radiation I picked up a stap infection. (Believe it or not had a wisdom that need to be pulled out during radiation, they think this maybe how i got it. )I am thanking God it is only in my hip and not in my breasts. The infectious disease dr. I just said if you had done implants those would be infected too! I need to replace my hip in the next two weeks. Ask all the questions you want if you were all close I would show you how great they look and feel.lol It really helped to show a friends sister so she could make a decision .

I did in oct. I am so happy with the results. I even had to do radation after and they still look good. My surgery was long because I did a double masctomy. The worst part of the whole thing is the drains. But I used a fanny pack to carry them in! Good luck with your descions. If you have more questions please ask!

BelindaS I hope to see some comments as I am also considering the DIEP myself. Right now I have tissue expanders & have them filled once a week until filled. then it's either exchange for implants or DIEP. Yours will be a delayed procedure?

Yes you will have scars, the ones on and under my breast are almost undetectable, the one on my lower abdoem can still be seen, but no you can not see it in a bikini, well unless you wear a string bikini bottom and I'm WAY to old to be wearing one anyway.
