Here's another reconstruction question, and yes it is vain. But since I have to do a bmx, with reconstruction I want to turn in my little B cups for a C, so I have a little cleavage. It's a horrific process, but I would love to get something out of all this pain. Does anyone feel the same way?
Can this even be done?

When my lumpectomy came back unsuccessful, I didn't have a choice but to do a mastectomy on the affected side, so since I was losing one I chose to have both removed and reconstructed. I went with the BMX and immediate reconstruction. 5 months later my tiny 36A was replaced with gorgeous 36C. I have the "gummy bears", and since I was able to keep my own nipples I look mostly "normal". I don't have much feeling, occasionally the feeling I do have is not pleasant. But bottom line I do not regret having gone through the time, pain and trouble. I know I would not have been at all confident with no breasts at all. I am in touch with myself enough to know that my vanity would have squashed my ego and I'd have spiraled into deeper depression if I couldn't look "normal to the outside world. Last week I tired on a bathing suit to see how well it hid my scars (it did a pretty decent job except for the side that had tried to do lumpectomy (we could see the tail end of that keyhole scar). Anyhow my husband (who has seen me completely naked several time) would not quit talking to my chest. That was worth a good laugh as something like that had never happened in my A-cup days.

Before my bilateral I was also a 34B. I still have my expanders in and I'm VERY uneven right now waiting for radiation to start on Monday (left was deflated for a better angle with radiation to not have added skin damage on my left & uneffected side). My left right now, I'm guessing is a B cup. It looks about the size I was before. My right? My PS overfilled for a natural droop when the implants are put in, but right now it is about a D! I'm used to barely B's! This thing is huge right now! :)
BUT when all is done and I get my implants I'm planning on ending up at a 34C, as a full C cup.

Btw I went from a 34 B (and that was with padding), really I was a A cup...to a 34 C. Just sayin...they are awesome...the only positive out of all of this lol.

I was an A cup to begin with and now I am a C cup =). Of course I went bigger! If I had to lose my itty bitty breasts, I might as well get some nice perky breasts/cleavage out of it lol! I had tissue expanders then switched to silicone implants. So it is surely possible to go bigger!

I also had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction, and went from 32 A to 32 D. Although that sounds dramatic, a 32 D is the same cupsize as a 36 B. As with some others, I felt - as did my surgeon - that the bigger size fit my frame better. As for cleavage - I still don't have it. Both cupsize and cleavage depend at least in part on your anatomy. And the implants are not shaped like my natural breasts. While I am pleased with how I look in clothes, I agree, reconstruction is small comfort for the pain and fear and loss. Bigger may look better, and my body may be in better balance, but reconstruction does not provide the return of sensation. Overall, I would not have done it any differently - I appreciate every day that I don't have to wrangle with prostheses or be totally flat. And while I was self-conscious about my very small breasts before, this has made me aware of how superficial and stupid that was. I miss my small - but real, and sensitive - breasts.
