RUN. The cording is the lymph vessels and treating them rough is NOT the way to go. Get to a certified Lymphedema specialist . Even if it means traveling a bit for the treatment. Otherwise look up the lymphedema geru. There is tons of good info on that site.

Move your arm to the beginning of pain and hold it. Release and repeat several times. Gently....like barely moving the skin stroke the tissue up toward the shoulder and neck. You can increase the effectiveness by GENTLY rubbing the lymph nodes in your neck under your chin.

These nodes and vessels are very very delicate. Don't allow them to be treated roughly. You don't need more problems.

Thanks, will do. I am currently seeing another therapist who's wonderful. Gentle and listening. I think that is the most important characteristic any provider can have-listening!!!

If your MD referred you to the first therapist, be sure to tell her that the treatment was all wrong/ I am so sorry that you ran into such an ignorant and arrogant jerk.. \ List her on the providers web page in this site with a comment. I may help others to avoid the same abuse.

Thanks. I went to another certified lymphedema specialist. My arm is blue and bruised. It hurts to move it. I have noticed extra lumpiness in the area. She states I have 4 more additional weeks in therapy because of the trauma.

I have been to 4 sessions and my arm is so sore. I can barely raise it. The therapi1st keeps insisting upon aggressive manipulation of the cords. I have read different research and don't know what to do. I have plans of returning to work in 4 weeks; however, this treatment has worsen my condition. I thought that the treatment is to be gentle but I am bruised and swollen. Any advice other than run?
