I had my first chemo on Sat and have been having pain in my ear and head on and off. Asprin doen't seem to help. Should I be concerned?
It is common for Adriamycin and Cytoxin to cause a headache. The anti-nausea drug Zofran can also cause headaches. Definitely let your doctor know.
I've had headaches the whole time thru chemo... they did a CT scan of my brain to be safe and it was normal... I think it's the stress, meds, and now sinus infection. I take oxycodone because that is the only thing that works. The Dr is happy to give me what I want to get me thru this.
On my first chemo treatment I had the worlds worst headache. I remember telling my husband I wanted to die. I had never had a migraine or anything even close so this really threw me for a loop! It was a holiday weekend so it took a long time to reach my doctor. I didn't call right away, thinking it would improve or the Tylenol would kick in. By the time I got ahold of him he said I let the pain get too out of reach to control conventionally. He prescribed Dilaudid, a Morphine derivative . that knocked me out for a few days until the pain passed. I never got the headaches with the remaining 5 treatments. I had Taxotere, Carboplatin and Herceptin. My best advice would be to phone your oncology office.
Can you take naproxin (alieve)? or Excedrin migraine.
