I have just had an MRI and x-ray to examine possible causes of the tingling and numbness. After a bilateral mastectomy, expanders, implants, a latissimus flap procedure and now expander again, the thought is that it is simply a result of intercostal brachial nerve damage during surgery. It comes and goes but does seem to be improving with time. MIT only occurs on e side where the cancer and thus the most surgical activity has occurred.
Yes, I had that. It a result of the mastectomy more than tissue expanders. Mine resolved on its own over time. I had additional surgical biopsy recently, and the tingling in my finger tips has come back. It's nerve endings. But always write down when you experience these types of things so you can remember to ask your Drs.
Yes, I've had issues with tingling, numbness and even pain. Stretching seems to work for me. At first, I 'walked' my hands up the wall - I'm tall, so eventually I could touch the top of the door jamb. I stretch into the doorway, to pull my arm as much as I can. The sensation does come back a little with each fill - so I keep stretching. As the nerves stretch, you'll feel more normal. (Though parts of my back and arm are still numb.)
Yes, I have tissue expanders and keep getting numb fingers and weird numbing sensations when I rub my arms. I think that it may be that the nerves got "scrambled" with the mastectomy and it will take a while to settle down. (hopefully!)
I'm not so great with doing the exercises either - I do get better about it whenever something hurts though! It really does help - and I just stretch when I think about it, I don't have any routine or anything.
