My thumb nails bent. I mean, they weren't flat and smooth, but got mishapen. Once I finished treatment and my nails continued to grow, the weird part grew out and the rest grew in normally.

My nails got very discolored and they were lifting. I would cut my nails very short so they wouldn't catch on anything and that seems to work.

Mine got brittle, and my big toenails on both feet started to lift off. I started keeping them painted (my fingernails) and it seed to help me from breaks and chips. I finished chemo in April 2011 (24 rounds) and am NOW having issues with one of my nails. I'm on Tamoxifen, and am not sure if its that or just effects from the Taxol still reaking havoc on my body. My middle finger on my one hand got REAL thick and started peeling AT the nail bed/cuticle. Its a goner :( no other problem nails so don't know WHAT is going on with it.

Red zebra lines across my nails. The girl I was in chemo with (we started the same day and were there every treatment together) we both walked in on the same day and held out hands out - it happened ot her the same week as me! After about the 4th cycle. After the red lines they began to lift from the nail bed and ooze yellow puss. I crammed antibiotic oitment into them and kept bandades over them. They never fell off but they hurt and were tender. Same happened to my big toe nails and also those bruised underneath. The brusing lasted for abour 2 years!

I have had 8 treatments already of Taxol, and nails are pealing and cracking. I find myself using lots of hand creams, and rubbing them good in my nails. Someone did suggest to me to keep some type of moisturizing nail polish on your nails. Best Wishes to you both.
