After lumpectomy with radiation I have what they think is fat necrosis? They said it typically has small changes forabout 1 yr. imnow 2 yr out and it's still evolving? They want another MRI next month to check but I am a wreck!!! Also I have a rare ATM gene mutation
Seven years ago, 21 of my lymph nodes were removed (sentinal node biopsy + mastectomy combined), and 2 tested positive at the time. Now, ultrasound detects a number of "possible lymph nodes" in the axillary area that have suspicious cores. The radiography Doc said she was really puzzled by this, as the surgeries should have excised them. She says they could also just be "nodules." She discovered them when looking at a new lump (which could be fat necrosis or a tumor). I… read more
Plastic surgeon has twice gone in surgically to "break up" these areas, and took more fat to fill in areas. Not resolved, one area in particular still very hard and uncomfortable. Dr. says give it time. Has anyone experienced this? Seems to me he needs to remove the fat necrosis and replace it. But, I'm still very tender from where he took the fat a month ago to try to resolve… read more
I thought I finally had my life back on track. I just returned from a fabulous vacation and started a new job this week. I am almost one year post mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction(end of this month it will be one year), 6 months out post chemo and on Aromasin since Sept. I had my annual gyn appt two days ago and she did a breast exam and told me I was good. But today I had my 6 month follow up with my breast surgeon and she's having me get a… read more
I'm 10 months post-op of double BMX with immediate Diep flap reconstruction. I finished chemo in April and am now on anti-hormone therapy, even being TN. The issue I'm having is...some of the transplant fat keeps dying off and causing necrosis. Most of you here, except "maybe" those with in-situ, know the feeling and horror of feeling a lump but all know the stress of hearing the word cancer. So far, every lump has been necrosis but the waiting for an appointment then waiting for an ultrasound… read more
Mastectomy w/immediate recinstruction on Aug. 24th. (Nothing but complications w/reconstruction); 2nd attempt at reconstruction on Oct 2nd.... I had about 1/3 of my breast tissue removed due to necrosis and the tissue expander exchanged. Everything looked really good initially. At my one week post op on Oct. 9th I ended up having a procedure in the office to cut away more necrosis and PS removed 50 cc's of fluid. Tonight Oct. 11th I find more necrosis starting and the tissue expander… read more
Hi, I had stage 0 dcis in right breast followed by lumpectomy, radiation and tomoxifen. Two and a half years later I’m having another biopsy done because of calcifucations/necrosis again in the same breast. I’m hoping and praying that it’s nothing. Has anyone else had this experience and have it come back ok? I’ve very nervous again :(.
I am 3 weeks out after mastectomy (with implant) and have quite a bit of skin necrosis and the area seems to be getting larger. I saw PS 2 days ago and he did not seem concerned (he said next week he may need to debride the area) - has anyone experienced this or should I call him to make another appointment?
I had a bilateral mastectomy with fat transferred but now notice 2 lumps in that area. After an ultrasound they told me it's the fat that's died and caused the lumps. It still freaks me out to feel a lump in my breast again and I want it removed! Has anyone else experienced this?
