Nearly 67 years old. No family history of cancer.
Routine mammogram in May showed microcalcifications classified as suspicious. Expectation set of potential lumpectomy since suspicious area 1.5cm. Biopsy indicated high grade, comeda, hormone receptor positive. Follow up mammogram indicated 6.5cm. Discussion turned to masectomy. MRI w-contrast ordered given inconsistency. It showed 2cm. I still don't know size. Surgery scheduled for July 11 but still don't know what that surgery will… read more
My surgeon says she is going to take the axIllary nodes as well. There was no offer made to biopsy surrounding lymph nodes because “I didn’t do chemo”. BUT, my oncologist didn’t recommend chemo before surgery. Im so confused!
DCIS stage 0, 1cm area, grade 3 ER/PR+. My surgeon is only doing the sentinel node biopsy because I requested. I also asked about MRI but he said that it wasn't needed. I did the BRCA test (negative for both). Is it usual to just do the lumpectomy and not do a node biopsy? How did you decide? (If you did?)
My surgeon just called and wants to schedule another surgery to take my lymph nodes out. The BMX was done 2 weeks ago. the pathology came back and the tumor was 7.1 cm, not 2.1 like they thought. So I should never have had the Sentinnel biopsy but the Axillary Dissection. My Sentinnel node biopsy was negative.
The day before my mastectomy, I was sent to the hospital to get a shot in my left breast. The needle entered my left breast and put dye into the tumor. This August 31st of 2017 will be 6 years since surgery. This also happened to a BC Sister 10 years ago January 2017. She was in the hospital and it happened right before her surgery.
To me, this was the most inhuman thing I had to go through. The pain was so intense and last so long I actually was howling in pain.
Is this still done to women?
Biopsy samples all showed DCIS. Had lumpectomy and the pathology report came back, LCIS, DCIS and IDC, Invasive ductal carcinoma. So, it went from being non invasive to invasive, in a short amount of time. They want me to have a lymph node biopsy now. Has this happened to anyone and has anyone had a lymph node biopsy? Any information or comments is appreciated.
I'm a mess. I don't know how all you women out there handle all this. After reading many of your stories way worse than my… read more
Question for anyone that has gotten an arm tattoo post lymph dissection on the effected side...did it cause you to develop lymphedema in that arm? I am really wanting to finish out my sleeve and am not trying to move to the other arm yet.
Please only answer if you personally have gotten one. I am looking for actual results/experiences, not opinions.
Does your underarm area ever go back to feeling 'normal' again following lymph node removal? I had 19 removed during partial mastectomy in January, and sensation has finally started to come back. But I feel like a have a 'hole' under there....don't know if I'm being super-sensitive or not....RO examined me @start of radiation, no issues, but I do still have a bit of tightness on that side, which I expect is normal. Anyway, just wondering if I am simply over-babying myself.
