how to deal with radiation burns

how to deal with radiation burns

Hi everyone,

I completed 25 rounds of radiation therapy 2 1/2 weeks ago where I had the mastectomy on my left side and I am now trying to deal with the burns/blisters that developed. The radiation oncologist told me that the burns would continue to progress up to two weeks after I had completed treatment but I find that the burn on the side of my breast close to my arm is gradually getting redder and the blisters on my chest are becoming difficult to deal with. I was told to use… read more

Has anyone in your personal life that you thought would be there for you, completely let you down?

Has anyone in your personal life that you thought would be there for you, completely let you down?

My counselor asked me if there was someone that you thought would be there for you every step of the way, and they, for some reason, just didn't step up to the plate when you needed them most? I have a neighbor that I thought for sure would have my back. We had known each other for years, and I have helped her with her family so many times. Picked up kids from school, took care of sick kids, babysat them for the… read more

What to do about Endocrine Therapy Induced Hair Loss?

What to do about Endocrine Therapy Induced Hair Loss?

Five years in, the hairloss is even getting difficult for this pro hairstylist to manage. While I didn’t fully recover my hair following chemotherapy, what did emerge is slowly peetering out- I’m probably down 85% of my pre-treatment glory, and that is definitely not an emotionally-driven estimate.
I’m resolved to continue my aromatase inhibitor for the additional five years that have been recommended, and am also swallowing my onco’s warning that it’s likely… read more

Having a bilateral masectomy and don’t want radiation. Looking for advice/others that have refused radiation.

38 years old & I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, ER & PR positive, HER2 negative breast cancer. My tumor was 6cm and have 1 lymph node involved.

Because of the size of my tumor it was recommended to do chemo first for my treatment plan. I started chemo in November and I have three more treatments to go. Next will be my surgery.

My cancer has responded very well to the chemo and hand exams by… read more

Has anyone else had problems with swelling and/ or indentations from your bra after radiation?

Has anyone else had problems with swelling and/ or indentations from your bra after radiation?

I had a lumpectomy and radiation which ended in November. My skin under the breast was very irritated by the end of the radiation and I lost the top layer of skin but it healed pretty quickly. At the end of December I noticed that by the end of the day after wearing a bra that I now know was too small I would get a line of swelling where my two breasts had rubbed against each other. The swelling would go away soon… read more

Residual cancer after lumpectomy. Neg lymph. High oncotype & drs dont know how to proceed? Anyone else out there like me, what did you do?

5 years agao I was diagnosed with stage 1A invasive ductal. ER/PR + HER 2 -. Had lumpectomy, negative lymph nodes (9), 4 IV chemo treatments and radiation. Maintenance Tamoxifen following. Had MRI light up on scar line, 6 month follow up MRI still there, so followed with biopsy. Positive for cancer and had a bilateral masectomy with reconstruction. Drs believe it was residual… read more
