Do You Go For Labs Before Seeing Your Oncologist?
A MyBCTeam Member asked a question đź’

I see my oncologist next week. I requested to have my labs this week, so she would have results in time for my appointment. She wanted to wait and order labs after I see her. I hate the waiting game. I am also requesting a CA125 test since I have a BRCA2 mutation for a baseline number. Maybe this is just because, its my first three month appointment. Thoughts??

What Might Rising CA-15-3 Numbers Actually Mean?
A MyBCTeam Member asked a question đź’

My BC stage 3/4 surgery +treatment was completed late 2013 (almost 4 yrs ago) with metastisis detected in early 2015. I have been taking Ibrance for 2 yrs and CA15 number had been lowered and stable until a few months ago
The marker numbers continue to increase, shown by my monthly bloodwork, but are not yet at the level of 3 yrs ago
PET scans are not showing anything new. Does anyone know what else the rising marker numbers might mean? I looked on-line but have not found any information. Dr.… read more

Does Anyone Have Tumor Markers Or CtDNA Tests Done Routinely To Monitor For Recurrence Or Metastasis? The Lack Of Surveillance Bothers Me
A MyBCTeam Member asked a question đź’

I just had another long conversation with my oncologist about it. I’ve read and he’s told me that the guidelines state there is no increase in survival if routine imaging or tumor markers are done after being treated. One of my friends had DCIS 10 years ago and her oncologist did routine CA15-3 tests yearly. Her CA15-3 became elevated two years ago and after imaging it was found that she had metastasis to her lungs and she is now stage 4. The lesions were very small and she’s getting Herceptin… read more

Testing After Breast Cancer Treatment
A MyBCTeam Member asked a question đź’

I have had a partial mastectomy, 4 rounds of chemo and currently going through radiation (#12 tonight).. and will be put on Anastrasole in May. My Oncologist told me that they won't do any testing after completion of radiation to determine if there is no evidence of cancer...I will just be monitored every 3 months for 2 years. I find that pill hard to swallow! Has anyone had testing after breast cancer treatment to determine where you are in your journey? If cancer is in remission or eradicated… read more

I had Chemo, Mastectomy, Chemo and then 33 Rads. Got blood test results CA15-3 test and my level is 35. I can't find out what this means!! Petscan is still pending, as I am awaiting the insurance approval!! It has been 5 weeks, but was told delay could be 6-8 weeks out

Tumor Markers When Should I Get Worried?
A MyBCTeam Member asked a question đź’

First diagnosed tumor marker CA125 was 40, "acceptable" is 38. 3 months after chemo and Herceptin, went down to 18, 3 months later went up to 21, three months later, went up to 24. (had double mastectomy - no recon) Going for my next check up tomorrow. When do they start getting "worried" and perform more tests?

A MyBCTeam Member

Hate tumor marker tests. Mine went up and down during chemo, as did my stress level
Every time I go for another check-up I tell myself I don't care what it is (it is not fool-proof one way or the… read more

Can A Raised Tumor Marker Be Caused By Damage To The Silicone Implant As A Result Of Lipotransfer?
A MyBCTeam Member asked a question đź’

My ps pierced my implant twice while doing fat transfers on the mastectomy side. Since i have been told that i have inflammation in the breast and i also experience pain. Could this be the cause of an elevated CA15-3 (mine is 25.8 should i worry? )? Also would revision surgery resolve this?
Thank you all for your time
