Tumor Marker

Tumor Marker

Hello,
Could anyone tell me why my tumor markers keep going up after all my treatments and now I am on Tamoxifen.
My oncologist is telling me it's fine because I am in range still but what I don't understand is if it keeps going up doesn't that mean the cancer is multiplying?
I am so confused because none of the doctors are giving me a direct answer.
Has anyone had this issue?
Would appreciate the feedback.

Tumor markers are not a reliable way to monitor cancer activity. In some patients the markers are worthless, and in other patients the markers reflect cancer activity. No decision about treatment is… read more

Anyone Else Find The 'chemo Fog' Hard To Recover From?

Anyone Else Find The 'chemo Fog' Hard To Recover From?

I'm 5 months post chemo(still on Trastuzamab therapy) and my cognitive impairment is as bad as ever! I'm also on Tamoxifen so perhaps a combination of continued treatment are to blame. The aches as well can come and go and the fatigue . I know it's a small price to pay for my continued health!

Yes! But it does get better, it just takes time. I used to go in the store for just a couple of things, and could remember one. Before chemo I wouldn't bother to check my list until ready to check out… read more

It is my understanding that any cancer cells remaining after surgery may develop resistance to the initial HER2-targeted treatment. Neratinib was developed to overcome this resistance by targeting the… read more

I Keep Hearing About Chemo Brain - Is Anyone Experiencing It And How Bad Is It?

I hear that some chemo causes a short term memory loss called chemo brain. If you are experiencing it, which chemo did you have and how bad are the memory problems from it?

I had TCHP and the chemo brain is awful. I wonder now if I had opted for the hair-preservation option if it would also have reduced the effects on my brain. I didn’t care about losing my hair, but I… read more
