Hi again Gina! Yes, I did the five day radiation. Stronger radiation and more localized. It just did the tumor area and surrounding tissue, sparing the rest of the breast.

Yes. In Europe for about 7 years they have used the increased dose for 5 days instead of a longer time frame.

When I had radiation therapy, two women were getting the 5 days only radiation therapy.

My Radiation Oncology Dr. refused to to the 5 day’s radiation on me ( 2023) as he said that there was not enough information about it and it had not been used for a long time.

I agree with rosegardengal. My skin was not very irritated and other than being tired after a few days of treatment, I did ok! Everyone was very kind and helpful during my radiation. They set you up and get things marked up and then start treatment later. If you choose this option, I hope you do as well with kind folks helping. They know what you are going through and try hard to be as understanding as possible.

I had 20 radiation sessions for my breast cancer, but I did do the 5 day radiation 2 of the 4 times I got radiation for my endometrial cancer. It made it so much easier than having to go every week day for 3-4 weeks. Even though you get a bigger dose on those 5 days I found my skin was way less irritated and I got over the nausea and tiredness from the radiation quicker than I do when I have to go for 3-4 weeks. I think it's a great option if it will provide the type and amount of radiation required for your cancer. Good luck with whatever option you decide ❤️
