I wasn’t called back that’s the thing !! After the visit to my surgeon and she examined my breast as a normal procedure every six months. She handed me a script for a. Diagnostic Mamagram. My other two Mamagram’s were Mamagram/ultrasound if needed.

Our center actually lost it's accreditation for not getting additional images done when the original images were not perfectly clear- often because we took a breath, adjusted our position, etc. when we were supposed to be perfectly still. What a mess- they had to cancel at least 6 months of scheduled mammo's, not allowed to make any new appts, and send everyone out for retraining. Every image from the date of the last certification had to be reassessed. All mammo patients seen during that time were sent a registered letter (including me- we had to sign for them) outlining the issue, and telling us that we could have imaging redone at another facility at our centers cost. Wait times to get the mammo for cancelled appts were months long, because we had to be added the schedules of other facilities that had already had full bookings. Threw my mammo schedule off by 4 months!

Try not to worry- it sounds like your doctor is looking out for your best interest, as well as the best interests of the diagnostic center and staff!

When I have my mammogram done I usually wait until they have the results back and then a follow up with my breast cancer np. Also some what your going through is what I had done 4 years ago. Not saying anything is wrong with yours. Mine just took another direction. It seems everytime we have any tests done our minds just go to bad news. My breast np said to me at an office visit take every win you can get.

I had to have dx Mammograms every 3 months for a year post lumpectomy and radiation. I now have a 3D mammogram every year. My understanding is a diagnostic(dx) Mammogram is when there is a qualified technician included in your visit. Meaning they are there specifically to read your test immediately. Instead of a regular mammogram, where your images are sent to be read in a normal time fashion. Does that make sense? Also, if you have dense breast tissue, it may be harder to read, and they want to be extra cautious. So that, if the technician catches something unclear, you can be re-imaged to get a better look.

Good afternoon Carol49. Being called back to do a diagnostic mammogram doesn't mean anything bad. Something probably was unclear on standard screening. Please don't stress yourself out. Ask questions about it and always be your best advocate for you.💕🙏😊🙏
