I have had mammogram routine. My doctor says this is a diagnostic code and I have asmyetry in my right breast and a oval lump behind my nipple. My doctor says it's 80 % chance it's cancer. I have another mammogram not until July. I was wondering if anyone else had something like this and if this sounds that it could be cancer.
When I showed my PCP the lump, she called the diagnostic center, then came back to tell me that if I could get there, and be willing to wait- they would work me in. Which they did. If the doctor read your report for the routine mammo, and now wants a diagnostic, they probably called the same center that did the routine mammo. I agree with the above suggestions from Sue-
-Have your doctor's office call to press for a diagnostic mammo asap
-Then you call and let them know that if they have a cancellation earlier than your appt date, you would appreciate the chance to get your appt moved up.
-Consider other diagnostic centers if this one can't be done quickly
-You can ask about ultra sound, etc., but there may be insurance issues if they require the diagnostic mammo first.
Waiting for these tests, scans, etc. is one of the most difficult parts of this journey.
Keeping you in prayers that you can get everything you need scheduled soon.
Hugs!
It's understandable to feel concerned about this situation. While it's impossible to determine if a breast lump is cancerous based solely on how it feels, your doctor's assessment of the mammogram results and the presence of both asymmetry and a lump behind the nipple are important findings that warrant follow-up.

I agree with the AI above.
You did not say if your Dr. is a gynecologist or Internist.
Call and insist on an immediate referral.
If the mammogram finds nothing, all is good. Early detection is important.
Call the same site you got your last mammogram and now insist that you need a mammogram ASAP. Tell them your doctor is backing you up.
If they canβt give you an earlier appointment or say end of June, call another mammogram site. You can get your referral transferred over to where they can see you soonest.
Go for this. You have to be firm and assertive.
