Members responded warmly to the question about tart cherry extract for pain and inflammation, with many sharing that it has helped manage joint pain, improve sleep, and reduce inflammation, often alongside a daily generic Claritin. Several members recommended always checking with both an oncologist and a primary care doctor before adding supplements, especially when undergoing cancer treatment. A recurring theme was the importance of self-advocacy, trying different options to find relief, and leaning on supportive partners and doctors through a very difficult journey.

I have been taking it for years for my osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. I take one 3 times a day and know it helps. I also take generic Claritin on e a day. In this situation I feel like more is better!

If you are losing a lot of muscle loss and are in pain and having walking difficulties with all of the AI’s that you have taken, has your Dr.
considered tamoxifen?

A second idea is to go on Pub Med and read the studies for lower dose AI’s. Take that information and discuss with your doctor.

I am lucky in that our PCP is an integrative physician, She is an advocate of diet and lifestyle changes over meds whenever possible. As soon as she learned I was HER2+, she told me chemo would be in my future- so she wanted to run a complete nutritional panel to make sure everything was in its best place before taking on chemo. She suggested a few supplements, and we ran those past the oncology pharmacist to make sure they were not going to be an issue.

Miriam2. No, I didn’t ask her. I did some research online and thought it would be worth trying. I haven’t found many doctors to be knowledgeable about supplements. I just want to try it and hope for good results. I would let her know when I see her. 😊
