Members shared their sleep struggles while taking hormonal inhibitors like Anastrozole and Letrozole, with many describing waking up multiple times a night, taking hours longer to fall asleep, or only getting a few hours of rest. Several members offered helpful strategies including taking the medication in the morning, trying melatonin or magnesium glycinate, using Tylenol PM, and speaking with their oncologist about options like Gabapentin. A recurring theme was that fatigue and disrupted sleep are common challenges with these medications, but community members encouraged one another to keep communicating with their care teams.

Yes in the past two years but I think it could be that I’m working part time now though I still keep a routine. I get hot at night and then my heart feels like it’s racing and I’m wide awake. Magnesium Glycate and cbd help!

Good luck. I’m sure they have something similar. I know it has a steroid and lidocaine in it. Doesn’t taste great but it’s tolerable and works. Good luck

Constipation can be caused by an aromatase inhibitor or any other med that that you are taking.

Ask your Dr what you can take for it such as stool softeners.

I don’t believe my sleep difficulties came from taking AIs. I have RLS so have had issues with sleep for years prior to cancer diagnosis. I find stress, too much (or too little) activity makes it worse and certain types of alcohol. I don’t drink caffeine so that is not an issue for me. Due to hypothyroidism brought on by radiation treatment damaging my thyroid, if that medication is off, it too impacts my sleep. But AI’s, not that I am connecting it to.

I am on Anastrozole and wake up 2-3 times a night because of the increased urination from the AI and the pain and stiffness. I go to sleep pretty easily. I tried Tylenol Pm for a while, still wake up to pee but go back to sleep pretty easily with it. But waking up often means increased tiredness during the day, with the normal fatigue from the AI's. I can get up in the morning and fall asleep in my chair before I start my daily workout. The tiredness is one thing that didn't improve after switching from Letrozole to Anastrozole. It's a case of just living with the joys of AI's for another three years. 🤪
