Happy Mother's Day! πΈ What a wonderful milestone β 5 months post-treatment and hair growing back is truly something to celebrate!
What you're experiencing is very common after finishing chemotherapy. Many MyBCTeam members share similar feelings. Here's what's considered normal at this stage:
- Fatigue β Can last months or Show Full Answer
It takes a while- the NP explained the fatigue could go on a year easily. During cancer treatment, our body is going about its business of making new cells- but these new cells are still being impacted by the treatments, (that's why it still takes a few months from the end of chemo to start getting hair back) the farther we get from treatment, the less impacted these newly produced cells are.
So, we really need to give ourselves, time and grace. Not the answer I wanted- lol! but it made sense, and he was right. The farther I got from treatment, the more I felt like my old self. Hang in there! Keep making your healthy choices to support the rebuilding! And congrats on the hair- that is proof positive, that those new cells are doing their thing!! Hugs!
Good morning π BrendaSmith2. It's great to see you. Glad that your hair is growing back. With all that you're going through it takes time to adjust to what is a new normal for you. Get plenty of rest. Eat healthy. Exercise. Stay positive and with prayers. Always talk to your healthcare team and ask about anything that's on your mind. Always be your own advocate. Have a bless day πΉ.
