Can capsaicin help with osteoarthritis pain in breast cancer patients?
While capsaicin cream is sometimes used for joint pain relief, the search results don't specifically address its use for osteoarthritis in breast cancer patients. However, there are several other approaches that MyBCTeam members and research have found helpful for managing joint pain during breast cancer treatment.
Alternative pain management options include:
- Pain medications like acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil)
- Regular exercise, including yoga and walking
- Massage therapy
- Acupuncture - one member shared "Acupuncture is a lifesaver!!"
- Meditation
- Maintaining a healthy weight
Some members have also found relief with loratadine (Claritin), an antihistamine that may help reduce joint pain from certain breast cancer treatments.
It's important to talk with your cancer care team before trying any new pain management approach, including capsaicin, to make sure it's safe and won't interfere with your treatment. They can help you develop a comprehensive plan to manage your joint pain effectively.

@ShangongLu
1) Synovial fluid is increased by exercises that work the knees.
2) Type 2 collagen is much cheaper in tablets than powder. Clear with your doctor.
3) A future method discussed in an article that I read would involve a college type injection placement that would replace and grow
collagen which would preclude any future total knee replacement surgeries.

managing symptoms is not good enough for me. I would like to increase synovial fluid and type 2 collagen
