We all have those moments (ok, days)- and today this popped up. That "silly old bear" is much wiser than many ever gave him credit for. Hope it resonates with you as it did me.
Hugs!

The one who hadn’t known pain yet.
Who hadn’t carried heavy things.
Who didn’t feel so deeply because life hadn’t asked her to.
It was simpler then—because it truly was.
But I love who I am now.
I love life, the good and the hard.
And I honor the version of me that learned how to carry it all.

Members opened up about the profound loss of their pre-cancer selves, sharing feelings of grief, anger, and exhaustion from constant medical testing and treatment side effects, while acknowledging they are grateful to be alive even as they navigate their changed bodies and futures. Several members offered hope through their own journeys, including one who reclaimed strength through gentle five-minute exercise bursts that grew into fuller workouts over six months, another who found peace in her new self after treatment, and one who discovered relief when a doctor outside oncology identified unnecessary medications contributing to her fatigue and pain. A recurring theme was the importance of celebrating good days without guilt, leaning on faith and community support, advocating fiercely for oneself with medical teams, and holding onto hope even when facing scary treatment decisions or setbacks like vision damage or tumor growth.

I totally relate to this. I feel like I kinda died when I got the diagnosis and actually had moments of how do I live now? I try to find things to enjoy & sometimes it is really hard, like I hate the new me, I didn’t ask for this & I get angry. But here we all are, just taking it one day at a time. Hugs 💕

I miss the innocence I used to have, before I knew how badly things can go south, how scared I would be, all the uncertainty of what the future holds. I am still trying to hug the "new me" and get used to the feeling that anything can happen, no matter what I do to try to prevent it. But onward we go, trying to summon up all our small courage and keep going. Hugs to all.

Yes, I know chemo of any kind can affect eyes. In my case, I actually developed an astigmatism. My vision improved dramatically once treatments ended. I had 11 Taxol infusions. I exercised throughout because only day of or day after was I too tired. I am old and infusions for me were still more than handleable. Would I do it all again? IDK, I think probably not but I truly do not know. In my case, age 82 is rapidly approaching and that must be part of the thinking. I agree that quality of life is uber important. I hate that you are dealing with all of this - that anyone is! I hate these near impossible decisions that have to be made. After you see Dr tomorrow, maybe just try blocking out all the other voices and ask yourself what YOU want to do, what you need to do for your peace of mind. Then, do let me know, please how tomorrow goes. 🙏, 💜 and healing hugs are winging their way to you. Believe me I will be thinking of you tomorrow and every day. We all will be!
