For me, Taxol was a vacation after AC! AC caused a lot of nausea and fatigue. Since chemo is accumulative, Taxol can still cause fatigue but I was not as wiped out. The nausea was mild. Taxol can cause neuropathy. I would highly encourage icing during treatment.! Amazon sells mittens and socks with inserts to freeze during infusion.
Wishing you well!

What should you expect when switching from biweekly AC treatment to weekly Taxol (paclitaxel)?
The transition from AC to weekly paclitaxel involves a change in both schedule and side effects. While AC is typically given every two weeks, paclitaxel is often administered weekly, meaning you'll have more frequent appointments.
Common side effects with paclitaxel include:
- Hair loss (if you haven't already experienced it with AC)
- Fatigue that may increase later in the day
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Potential vein irritation at the infusion site
- Mouth sores
Managing the weekly schedule:
You'll need to track your appointments carefully since the frequency changes. Many people find it helpful to use a calendar to stay organized with treatment dates and blood work.
Pay attention to your energy levels throughout the day. Some people notice fatigue building in the late afternoon and find that short rest periods help them manage their schedule better.
Important tips:
- Let medical staff know immediately if you experience pain during infusion
- Stay hydrated and maintain adequate protein intake
- Don't hesitate to contact your doctor if side effects become difficult to manage
The weekly schedule can feel more demanding, but many people adjust to the routine. Listen to your body and don't push yourself on days when you need rest.
