Teresa, I am so sorry they are throwing these other hoops for you to jump through! Can you get the body scan and bone scan done in the same day? Those shouldn't be too uncomfortable. Ask your doctor what can be done to minimize pain for the MRI guided biopsy. I will be keeping you in prayers, that more sensible heads prevail in this situation and that you can avoid all these extra procedures- and just get the needed Petscan instead! Hugs!
Dr did a peer to peer.. still denied petscan.. they want me to get a body ct scan then a bone scan then a biopsy all first 2 injections of dye and that biopsy hurts I don't want to get it is deep and they want to squeeze my sore boob in that clamp for mri guided biopsy. Then they might approve a petscan. Im filling complaints if I every find out who I can file one work. It's now a month passed since new tumors discovered and still no tell nothing I'm so upset...
How can you manage the frustration when insurance requires additional proof before approving a PET scan after finding new tumors on MRI?
It's completely understandable to feel frustrated and want to scream. Dealing with insurance requirements when you're already stressed about new findings is incredibly difficult.

What insurance do you have?
They expect people to give up on their requests for tests.
Also, they are asking you to go through a lot of tests which costs money rather than one test.
There is supposed to be someone at each insurance company who is supposed to address this.
