Is there any difference in survival or recurrence rates between IDC and ILC for grade 2, stage 1A with no lymph node involvement?
For early-stage breast cancer like stage 1A with no lymph node involvement, both IDC and ILC generally have excellent survival rates. The five-year survival rate for ILC treated at an early stage is nearly 100 percent.
For invasive breast cancer that hasn't metastasized, about 9 out of 10 people will live for five years or more after diagnosis, and 84 percent will live at least 10 years.
The specific differences between IDC and ILC survival rates at this early stage aren't clearly distinguished in the available information. However, what matters most for your prognosis is:
* The stage (yours is very early at 1A)
* Lymph node involvement (none in your case - which is positive)
* Hormone receptor status (ER/PR positive or negative)
* HER2 status
* Grade of the tumor
With stage 1A and no lymph node involvement, you're in a favorable category regardless of whether it's IDC or ILC. Your oncology team can provide more personalized information based on your complete pathology report, including hormone receptor status and other factors specific to your cancer.
