I've read that people who test positive for the BRCA genes are more likely to get breast and/or ovarian cancers. If you haven't already had gene testing done ask your doctor about getting it done so you know if you have any gene defects because that can effect what kinds of treatments, drugs, and monitoring you are given. I don't have the BRCA gene, but I do have defective CHEK2 genes which make you more likely to get cancer in general. I had gene testing done after being diagnosed with 2 other types of cancer a couple of years after my initial 2017 breast cancer diagnosis and just finished off with treatment in September for my 6th cancer diagnosis. My doctors have monitored me more closely ever since the gene defect was found. There are other genes as well that contribute to breast and other cancers. Good luck with your ultrasound, hopefully it's nothing serious ❤️

Has anyone experienced triple-negative breast cancer followed by ovarian cancer?

It's good that your OB-GYN is doing an ultrasound to investigate your symptoms. Bloating and weight gain can have many causes, and it's important to get them checked out, especially given your history.

One important thing to know: everyone with triple-negative breast cancer should be offered genetic testing. This is because TNBC can be associated with inherited genetic mutations, particularly BRCA1 and BRCA2, which also increase the risk of ovarian cancer.

If you haven't had genetic testing yet, this would be an important conversation to have with your oncologist. Knowing your genetic status can help guide screening and prevention strategies.

Your symptoms definitely warrant investigation, and you're doing the right thing by following up with your doctor. The ultrasound will help provide more information about what's causing your symptoms.
