I check Dr. Google when something new happens like a new symptom, new treatment, or new medication. There is a lot of garbage out there, but if you go to reputable sites you can get valid information and learn more about what's going on with your body and cancer treatments. I feel it's important to know all about your cancer and treatments so you are better able to advocate for yourself, especially if one of your doctors or other medical professionals may be making a mistake with their treatment plan for you. I've caught doctors in mistakes multiple times and a few times my Dr. Google knowledge has saved my life.
Why are your platelet levels elevated before chemo?
It's understandable to feel worried about this change. While chemotherapy often causes low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia), elevated platelets can happen too and may be related to inflammation, your body's response to cancer, or other factors.

You get some really strange and conflicting (and don't forget frightening!!) responses from that Doc!

Your feelings are normal and it's not unusual for uou to be concerned. Please call your oncologist and let him know what's happening. If for nothing more than peace of mind. It could be nothing,to worry about. inflamation, reaction to cancer treatments or something else but you'll feel better after you call your doctor. Many prayers, endless hugs and much love.
