If you've already had reconstruction and your cancer returns later and requires surgery they scrape the new cancer out of you, remove some skin, remove your implant if you have one, and it makes it more difficult to reconstuct in an area that has previously been reconstructed. That's the boat I am in now and my initial breast cancer wasn't deemed aggressive, yet it returned 7 years after initial double mastectomy and multiple reconstruction surgeries due to being botched by my first plastic surgeon. If the doctor is saying it's super aggressive and they think you should wait 2 years that may be the best option in the long run, but for peace of mind you may personally want to get a 2nd opinion. Another thing to consider is the more surgeries you have on your chest the more overall muscle and nerve damage you will have, the more scar tissue you will have, your risk of lymphedema is greater, you will have more neuropathy in your chest and possibly armpits and arms, you will lose more range of motion with your chest, arms, armpits, shoulders, you could develop post mastectomy pain syndrome, etc. I say this as a cancer patient that has had 12 cancer and reconstruction related surgeries to my chest. I have all the problems I mentioned, and more, with the exception of lymphedema. At this point I may not be able to reconstruct my right breast again and will have two options....living with it all lumpy and bumpy on one side or going flat. It all depends on how my skin heals now after radiation which can change the texture of your skin and damage the skin elasticity. My best advice is you want to have as few surgeries as possible on your chest to get rid of the cancer and get your reconstruction surgeries done. Good luck to you ❤️

Regardless of type, stage and grade, I would think waiting 1-2 years would be best to guarantee full healing from all the treatments. 🥰

For inflammatory breast cancer, reconstruction has to wait at least 1 year.
