Yes Carrie, triple negative is aggressive, but not impossible. It responds well to chemo.
Stage 2 is better than 3, no lymph node involvement is a huge plus. There are no hormones to block, the only this that kills it is chemo.

If your team does not want you to do chemo first, Neo adjuvant, run to a second opinion. If you do surgery first, Carboplatin and Keytruda ( immunotherapy for TNBC) is not approved to be given by NCCN, the governing body for oncology. Also, is chemo doesn’t kill all the cancer, you wouldn’t be eligible for Capecitabine.

Standard of care (Keynote 522) is Neo adjuvant Taxol, Carboplatin, Pembrolizumab weekly times 12, followed by Adriamycin Cytoxan Pembrolizumab every 3 weeks times 4. This gives you about. 65% chance chemo will kill all the cancer. Surgery 4-6 weeks later, followed by radiation indicated (lumpectomy, lymph node involvement). Followed by Pembrolizumab every 3 weeks times 9.

I was diagnosed with TNBC August 2018. By the time I had surgery, the cancer was gone, I had complete pathological response to chemo. I have no evidence of cancer.

I have a friend who has lived more than 15 years. She is not the norm but there is hope. Make sure you find the best if you can. A breast Cancer oncologist for sure. Just take it slow and easy. Mostly be kind to yourself. 😽❤️

I agree Carrie, the unknown is hard!
Like most, the fear was consuming for me. Although I kept pushing myself, telling myself I could do this, I was scared. Looking back, I wish I knew how strong I am.
