Starting radiation on Monday, 3 weeks duration. I live 1.25 hours from my treatment center (ugh! City traffic!). I'm concerned because I have been told that fatigue is a real problem during radiation. I'm already experiencing significant fatigue. Any suggestions to minimize fatigue's effects? Should I plan on a driver instead of driving myself?

Thanks for asking! I'm not sure. The staff couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. I didn't expect to feel anything but I did. Weird! Uncomfortable, just short of pain. Talking with radiologist about it today. If that's all I have to deal with during radiation, I'll take it!😉

If you haven’t starting moisturizing your breast, do it now before radiation starts. That and staying hydrated and walking (all suggestions I learned here) really helped with the fatigue.

Definitely have a driver or at least someone with you. Fatigue is very strong problem !

Yes, I agree with Bonnie. You should definitely have a driver. If your fatigued and it gets worse.... That will not be good. Take someone with you, always. Prayers and hugs things go well. 🙏🤗🥰

Fatigue didn't start for me until the middle of the third week. It lasted a couple of weeks, needed a nap each day but other than that I could (slowly) get on with life. I never came close to needing a driver, even the tiredness didn't kick in for a couple of hours. (but my drive home was only about 10 minutes so...)

We're all different in how our bodies respond. Mine was mostly good. A lot better than I'd anticipated.
