Hi Mary. Please very carefully review what has been happening to and with people already prescribed with GLP-1. Its a complicated drug with complicated outcomes. Its not as simple as inject and instantly lose weight. The clas has seen some very serious side effects.

Weight gain is a known side effect of anastrozole, particularly during the first year of treatment. Many MyBCTeam members have shared their struggles with weight management while on this medication, with some reporting gains of 10-35 pounds despite maintaining regular exercise routines.

Risk factors for significant weight gain while taking anastrozole include:
• Being younger than 60
• Having had a mastectomy
• Smoking cigarettes While the search results don't specifically mention GLP-1 medications, there are several recommended strategies for managing weight while on anastrozole:

• Track food intake through photos or written logs
• Limit alcohol consumption
• Gradually increase physical activity
• Work with a registered dietitian
• Consult with your healthcare provider before starting any weight management program

It's important to discuss any new medications, including GLP-1 drugs, with your oncology team to ensure they won't interfere with your breast cancer treatment.
