Cleaning with a Cause provides 2 free housecleaning services for those in cancer treatment. Apply through their website and they will pair you with a cleaning service in your area.

9/17/2025 I originally posted the below answer to the wrong question so now it's where it belongs.

American Cancer Society has an assistance program that helps out if you need to travel away from home while getting treatment. I started my treatment in Orlando when I still lived in central Florida, but now I live 185 miles away near the Georgia border and for radiation I've needed to stay in Orlando Monday-Thursday nights for 4 weeks in a row. They will grant you up to 12 free nights at Extended Stay America Hotels which has been a huge help. The info is on the American Cancer Society website. They also have some other programs that can help with medications and other things. The thing is if you do contact them to get set up for the free hotel rooms you need to investigate the hotels and read reviews before deciding which location to stay at. Their older hotels can be really gross and in really rough shape (I'm being polite with my description). The key is finding a newer hotel and then it should be clean, cockroach free, and feel safe to stay at. For anyone out there that travels long distance for treatment in Orlando be advised that all the Orlando hotels are old and gross. The place to request a room would be in Titusville. Without traffic it's a 40-45 minute ride each way, but it is worth the ride to get a free room in a hotel that's about 3 years old. The rooms all have a full size fridge, a stovetop with 2 burners, and a microwave.

Cancer Care. This is #3 on Sue10s list. I got a gift from this organization that really helped and then applied for a special program they have called 🐾 PAWS. If you are a cancer patient you can apply for a gift specifically to help with pet care expenses. I've looked and looked and have not found another one. In addition, they have an amazing collection of resources for caring for pets through the various stages of disease. And for those of us stage 4 they have resources for finding a home for your pet when you are no longer able to care for it or you die. I don't mind planning for all kinds of possibile eventualities for my end of life. I absolutely hate thinking about his life after I am gone. Itbseems so unfair to agree to be his person and then leave him. I have had to decide to put pets to sleep. This is way worse.
My sister Lynda said she would take him but she already has a cat and dog, gratefully her dog is little. I have a new resource. Melissa Sherman at Calming Creek and she is the only one who makes me feel better about planning to leave him. First of all because she understands the bond we have, but also because she believes animals do grieve and hascworked with them through that process. She and I are working on a plan, which I will pre pay. For her to provide direct grief support for Tails and support for my sister incorporating him into her household. Like I said, I can barely stand thinking about how he will be when I am gone. I was in the hospital for 4 days last summer and he spent most of them wandering around the house he was born in, yowling for me. Kelly actually told me about it so it must have been intense to have made an impression. And she could not console him. I have felt absolutely terrible about leaving him ever since, but knowing Melissa will be there as a bridge makes all the difference to me.

Cathy- if this is because of chemo drugs- ask the financial person at the center, if there is a co-pay assistance program through the drug manufacturer! Saved me thousands of dollars! Hugs!
