I was on Zometa stopped because of Dental work,now I have small shards of bone coming out of my jaw!
@A MyBCTeam Member Hopefully your being young that you've have good dental hygiene and your in good shape will be on your side. Once you start zometa you can't have any dental work done. Are you getting it every month or 3months or 6months? I got infusions every month for a year, but I already had dental problems. I also smoked for over 30 years, which didn't help.my maxifacial surgeon told me that zometa remains in your body for years afterwards. It may not show up immediately. I chose to take it because my bones were riddled with cancer and were paper thin. I didn't have much of a choice. My bones are stronger now but I paid the price and was one of the unlucky 2 to 3% that get necrosis. It's a double edged sword. It depends on your circumstances too. Good luck!
Thank you for all the replies. I am really confused because my doctor told me that is optionall for me but keep telling me that because of my young age i should take it. I am after 8 rounds of chemo, radiation,surgery (remaining micro tumor was cut out and no cancer was found on lymph nodes). I am taking letrozole and zoladex. I am really confused and scared 😥
