I had it done after my lumpectomy

I had eight removed during my lumpectomy/partial masectomy. NO CANCER in lymph nodes! Thought only doing 3, but did 8. So felt did overkill but was good!

A second or third opinion, may help in determining the best path forward and provide peace of mind, My surgeon said they would test the sentinel nodes during surgery, and then, if positive- they would remove more, until they were satisfied.

Also, not all surgeons work this way. Some send it to the lab while you’re in surgery and maybe they indeed can determine where there is a clear line such as in Karen’s case. But most of the time those get tested after surgery is completed and when the path report comes back, then they make the decision to remove more or not.

they didn't go back in and possibly get the other ones out that may be cancer? my doctor said since 3 of the 5 came back cancer they want to remove all In case they're cancer in them..
