Every suggestion is right on target! The very fact that sny of you are pushing through BC is in itself call for mood swings! With this particular addition it does affect your moods! Best advice report it to your medical team! They are equipped to help you through such experiences. Also read a book, write in your journal, tslk on this site to others just as you are doing now! Give yourself a treat! Beauty day, lunch out, create anything even cup cakes!!

Erica, call the new oncologist's office, and let them know you are very much open to an earlier appt if one opens up. I would also contact your prescribing physician for your mental health meds, and let them know that you are struggling, let them know you have an appt with a new oncologist (maybe they can nudge for an earlier appt, too!) keep everyone up to date! Thank you Joyce, I am definitely experiencing an increase in depressive symptoms which combined with my history of impulsive behavior and self harm is very concerning. I am switching oncologists because the first one very much dismissed my pre-existing mental health condition when I asked about possible interactions from taking tamoxifen (among other reasons including poorly run office with rushed appts and lack of follow up). My first appt with the new med onc is not until mid October. I just hope I don't lose my mind before then!

Good morning Erica. I have a mood disorder as well that started in my teens. At 60 I rarely notice anymore but I am still very careful with medications. In 2012 I was diagnosed with early stage cancer. I was treated with lumpectomy and radiation.. Tamoxifen is the drug I was prescribed post other treatment. I had so much trouble on the drug I discontinued it without a backup plan. I would hope that there would be other options at this point. I had very persistant su*c*dal ideation with Tamoxifen. It was horrible. And there was no way I was willing to tolerate that. Be prepared when you talk with your doctor because they may dismiss it as not a side effect, especially since you have a history of depression. Please be careful because it is probably the Tamoxifen. I would really encourage you to see if there is an alternative. Wishing you the best. Please feel free to leave me a comment if you have additional concerns or questions.

Please talk to your doctor and let him know what ls going on. Yes, this med can effect your mood, cause depression and mess with your mental health. Your doctor can change your meds or perhaps lower the dose. Stay on your meds, call the doctor, see what he says and stay in touch with us so we know how you're doing. We love you and we care.
