I have HR+ ER & PR+ 90% HER2- with metastasis to the lymph that burst through the lymph node capsule. Just starting my journey after all the big stuff had been done & on hormone treatment (AI) w/ Lupron as an addition. Soon to be put on ribociclib. Very high risk for reoccurrence.
I did the neoadjuvent chemo before surgery then radiation so hopefully it did something. I do know the chemo did help lessen the cancer in the lymph nodes themselves but not as well as the cancer that was in my breast tissue and the tumor - it pummeled those. I can only pray it had the same effect on the tissue in the axila. Thank you for sharing with me @A MyBCTeam Member. Truly appreciate your sharing. (((Hugs)))
Megan, I wouldn't do chemo but chemo might be able to kill off cancer cells traveling through lymph system. I did have 5 radiations to stabilize the mets to sternum and with my low 10% Ki-67 SCORE, my cancer was slowing . Radiation to mets slows and even stops the growth there allowing treatments to fight disease elsewhere. I wish you the very best as you move forward
One of my sentinel nodes had extranodal extension. It was probably what initiated the metastases to the sternum instead of it going to through more lymph nodes under arm, it went to the sternum.
Megan. I am sorry that you are going through this! I pray that nothing has spread. Sending you many hugs and prayers. 🤎 and positive thoughts!
Having cancer cells in the lymph nodes at diagnosis can indicate a more aggressive cancer that may be more likely to spread. However, your hormone receptor positive (HR+) status is associated with better outcomes compared to hormone receptor negative cancers.
