Extra hours, now I am over the amount! I just had reconstructive on 8/12/2025! I can lower my hours, but I need to see my oncologist in October, I need my meds! I am so stressed out😢😢
I also have Medicaid, and just got recertified for the next year. Why are you losing Medicaid? I am semi-retired so I'm basically "poor". maybe take a leave from your job for a few months to qualify for Medicaid.? The exchange also has some decent plans with low payments.
@A MyBCTeam Member Both Medicaid and Medicare are very strict about the amount of hours you work. I had to retire shortly after being diagnosed in 2021. I wanted to keep working but I was too ill to continue being a caregiver. I began treatment immediately. I tried to work but my boss said that it was too dangerous (physically), I couldn't lift my patients and transfer them safely anymore. I was a "liability". I lost Medicaid because I turned 65 and have "aged out". I appealed 2x and lost. I was panicking and didn't know how I was going to pay for treatment. My oncologist said they would continue to treat me and that I set up a payment plan each month. It probably took me close to a year to finally get health insurance that I could afford. I'm still paying my doctor bill each month. I don't pay a lot but as long as I pay something it shows them my good faith that I will honor my word.
