Any suggestions for answering question, "how are you doing?" when you're not doing well. "Fine" is first thing that pops out of my mouth.

When my landlord asks I tell him 'Well, I'm not dead yet' and he doesn't think thats funny. I told him he needs to have a sense of humor.
