Hello @A MyBCTeam Member,
Yes, I was having drenching hot flashes when I was started on Aromatase Inhibitor drug in 2021. I had a hysterectomy when I was 40 so had already dealt with all of this.
What I have found that works is:
1. Estroven Complete: It is a Rhubarb extract. NO Estrogen. My Medical Oncologist approved it for me to use. I buy mine at Sam's Club in a 90 day supply as it is cheaper there then at Walmart. They do have it on sale 2-3x a year as well.
Also, I list other information on my profile that you may find helpful.
Sending positive vibes your way!

Hot flashes can be very intense and disruptive, especially during breast cancer treatment. There are several medications that can help manage these symptoms effectively. Gabapentin (Neurontin) and venlafaxine (Effexor XR) are commonly prescribed medications that have shown good results in reducing the frequency and severity of hot flashes. Many people have found relief through alternative approaches like acupuncture. Research shows that up to 20 acupuncture treatments over six months can significantly reduce hot flash frequency. Some have also experienced benefits from hypnosis sessions. Additionally, some find relief with natural supplements like evening primrose oil and sage tablets, though there's less scientific evidence supporting these options.
If your hot flashes are severe enough to cause vomiting, it's important to discuss this with your healthcare team. They may need to adjust your current treatment plan or try a different combination of medications to better manage these symptoms.
