You are if you’re one of the billions of people around the world who cook with canola or soybean oil, corn oil, peanut oil, and sunflower oil ...

These seed oils contain a type of dangerous omega-6 fat called linoleic acid.

Linoleic acid is also found in salad dressings, margarine, and processed foods.

According to a new study published in the journal Science, when you eat a diet high in these oils, you end up with much higher levels of a protein – known as fatty acid-binding protein 5… read more

My son suggested extra virgin olive oil (for salads, in lieu of sugary salad dressings) and avocado oil (higher "smoke point" for the "very rare" occasions I fry/sauté in moderate heat) — which I have been using for many years now. More pricey like organic foods, but I have to keep in mind what my family keeps reminding me ... "health is wealth."

@A MyBCTeam Member thanks for sharing. I was diagnosed with TNBC, I always want to make sure once I’m done with chemo I make the right choices in my life to do whatever I can from stopping it to reoccur. Do you happen to know oils that aren’t linoleic acid based?

Dr. Bronner's has an excellent, all natural lip balm that works great as well. I'm currently using Toups & Co. and 100% Pure products and love them both.

Thanks so much for sharing, Angelita. I knew about Omega 6 but didn’t know those specific cancer links. And didn’t think about the lip balms so I’m glad this was pointed out. I think we need so much more if this kind of info and education, because we’re bombarded with chemicals, and women more so than men because of all the beauty products and creams etc.

Thanks @A MyBCTeam Member. My son has been doing extensive research and shared this with me, and most recently ordered "lip balm" (who knew even lip balm) from Amazon (hard to find in local stores) checking that the ingredients do no contain these seed oils, as most of them do unfortunately. Encourage everyone to do their own research as well. 🙏

Additionally, there are several brands that focus on non-toxic, seed oil-free lipsticks. Many conventional lipsticks contain petroleum-derived chemicals, synthetic preservatives, and artificial dyes, but some brands prioritize natural ingredients and avoid harmful substances.

"Here are a few clean beauty brands that offer non-toxic lipsticks:

100% Pure – Uses fruit pigments for color and avoids synthetic dyes.
INIKA Organic – Certified organic and free from harmful chemicals.
Mineral Fusion – Lead-free and formulated without parabens or synthetic fragrances.
Toups & Co – Focuses on natural ingredients and avoids petroleum-based additives.
RMS Beauty – Uses organic oils and natural pigments.
